Movin' to the country...

...gonna eat a lot of peaches.

i'm new at this blog business. love writing. love reading. love telling stories. love listening. i'm interested in the millions of stories that others have to share. that's why i think blogging is a cool thing to do.

now, a confession... i set this blog up a couple of months back. i'd just moved house, finished up at my job, left the big smoke for the sweet somerset country air. figured there'd be some stories for the telling.

another confession....i'm not very good at starting, for lots of reasons...i am the Queen of Procrastination. so i left my beginnings of a blog spot for a while. now that the new year has rolled around, and after a lovely friend (who is a self-confessed blog-addict) came to visit this weekend I was inspired to start again.

so here i am. decided i needed a new blog title, as the one i concocted earlier was a bit crap, so crap in fact that i don't think i will tell what it was...ok...maybe i will ( if you promise not to laugh) are you ready...ok deep breath..1...2...3.......

yes, i know, it is very naff, and so is my first post, which i can't figure out how to delete yet, but i will one of these days. i will try not to judge my fledgling efforts too harshly. so, a new title. while contemplating and implementing this move to the country and all, i couldn't get the words of a certain song out of my mind. they go something a bit like - movin' to the country , gonna eat a lot of peaches, movin' to the country, gonna eat me a lot of peaches...you get the idea. and so this morning, the idea of 'Eating Peaches' just appealed. a bit random, but then again, i am a bit random myself, so it kinda fits.

i figured if i was going to use eating peaches as a title, i'd have some explaining to do, so i did some online investigating to see who was actually responsible for the song. i discovered it was written and sung by a band called The Presidents of the USA (store that one in the section of your brain marked 'trivia') . i also discovered a whole online debate about the meaning of the song lyrics which amused me no end (and did make me wonder whether this was quite the right title to go with) - some fans argued that the song was a blatant sexual innuendo, some went as far as to say it was a comment on socialism and communism in the US, and others said that it as just about good old sun ripened, home grown peaches, of the fruity variety.

so, sexual innuendo and American social commentary aside, for me Eating Peaches is about a place to write and share my story about this movin' to the country adventure that i am living.
